Dr. Kong Po Marn is a Consultant Chest Physician and Internist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and is also accredited at East Shore Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital. He is also a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr. Kong read Medicine at the National University of Singapore and obtained the M.B.,B.S. in 1989. He subsequently did his training in internal medicine and obtained the M.R.C.P.(UK) in1994 and M.Med. (Internal Medicine) in 1995. He then trained in Respiratory Medicine in the Department of Respiratory medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine ( Chapter of Respiratory Physicians) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
In 1998, he was a Fellow at the National Jewish Center for Medicine & Research in Denver Colorado where he furthered his interest in asthma and mycobacterial lung diseases while working with experts in those areas. On his return, he started the Non-tuberculous Mycobacterial Diseases Clinic in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and was also in charge of the Occupational Lung Diseases Clinic.
Dr. Kong was President of the Singapore Thoracic Society in 2004 and is currently also a member of the American Thoracic Society and the International Union Against Tuberculosis & Lung Disease.
Dr. Kong is published in international journals and has lectured frequently on Asthma and lung disease.
